About

A little more about the artist

Stephanie was born in Île-Perrot. To this day she still lives in the city. Over the years she defined her art in her own personal way. In 2016, she won the first place of the art competition of the M.E.A.L, in the free artist category. In 2017, she displayed her first individual exhibition. In 2018, her art is published in the Musée d ’Art et d ’Affaires Métropolitain, the MAAM. A temporay pause made her realize how her artwork was rewarding and important in her life. After her daughter’s birth, she went back to painting and plunged in her art completely.

In 2022, Stephanie won a scholarship and is nominated laureate for the Trace program, a project in her region which rewards emerging artists.

Artistic approach

A self-taught and intuitive painter

Stephanie Viens is a self-taught intuitive fine art painter. To create her personal universe, she uses several mediums such as acrylic paint, pastels, charcoal, pencil, plaster, photo collage, embroidery, spray paint and most importantly her daughter’s drawings. The artist discreetly integrates these drawings to create a memento and reminder of childhood. This very personal touch reveals all her sensibility and vulnerability.

Her creations begin with a combination collage and texture on the canvas, followed by an intuitive composition of colours and other elements, always in harmony with her mood. The abstract in her work provides the creative freedom needed to give sense to her many emotions and expose her sensibility. The process fulfills her need to express her state of mind. Through her abstract painting and collage, the artist creates a balance between exactness and imperfection. Her paintings evoke feelings related to a memory, childhood and nostalgia.
